Offre de thèse - Photonic Glasses group at Tampere University, Finlande

Metallic nanoparticles formation in glass inspired by ancient glasses

The Photonic Glasses group at Tampere University works on the design of novel glass media for photonic applications, mainly lasers. We perform full cycle research from the glass synthesis and fundamental characterization to practical applications of new materials. By investigating and understanding the composition-structure-property relationships in these materials, our goal is to develop new glass compositions with tailored properties to suit specific application needs.

We are looking for a PhD student to work on metallic nanoparticles formation in glass inspired by ancient glasses. The project is funded by Pirkanmaa Regional Fund (Finland). The position will be filled for a fixed-term period of 3 years. Trial period applies to all new employees. The salary is 26 000 euros/year.
